James Carlson: Technician
My Great Great Grandfather John August Carlson Came to America from Sweden in the late 1860’s starting the Swede’s legacy. I was born and raised in Iowa. I left the Midwest to pursue my bride, Valerie, ending up in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.
I was offered an apprenticeship by my father in law, Fred Pearl of Pearl Appliance Service. Joining the trade at 19, I learned many of the hard earned soft-skills, techniques, and values that Mr. Pearl gained in 36 years of service. As the Pearls transitioned to online parts sales, Valerie and I were offered the opportunity to own and operate Pearl Appliance Service.
Starting out with our first child, home, and business we worked together to excel as the top rated choice for affordable and honest service in 4 counties of Western North Carolina. 8 years, 4 children, and over 10,000 service calls later we decided to continue our adventure out west. Staying true to our service minded approach and hardworking heritage, we endeavor to make a Swede’s house call “Your Best Service Experience!“
Valerie Carlson: Office Manager
I was raised in the mountains of North Carolina. My grandfather owned a large appliance service in Florida. My father learned the trade at a young age. He moved us to North Carolina soon after I was born. My father decided to start up his own service around 2001. My father cared about his customers and worked hard to make the business a success.
I met my wonderful husband in 2007, and my father offered him an apprenticeship. My father was very impressed of how quickly James learned the trade. James is very mechanical, service was natural for him. My parents offered us the business in 2012, and we worked hard to keep the business as the top rated appliance repair service in Western North Carolina.
I have enjoyed helping James with the company, taking care of our 4 children, and being a home-school mom. We are excited to start a new journey in our life, and we will always strive to make Swede’s house call “Your Best Service Experience!“
